<p> Richard Dreyfuss, Gene Hackman, Glenn Close--the
quintessential "dream cast." But Hispanic performers see a
nightmare in the stars of Death and the Maiden, Broadway's
upcoming play of passion and politics: a work with a Latin
setting, performed by Anglo actors. Director Mike Nichols
promised that Hispanics would be considered as understudies, but
none were hired. HOLA, a Latino artists group, has filed a
complaint with New York City's human-rights commission, even
while applauding the production's one undeniable achievement for
Hispanics--the Broadway debut of the playwright, Chilean
literary grandmaster Ariel Dorfman.
